The National Council for Women (NCW) organized a vocational training on the production of complementary ornaments for fashion and home décor, within the “Addressing the Economic Drivers of Irregular Migration” project, implemented by the National Council for Women (NCW), in partnership with the European Union (EU), and targeted 60 women in the Qurna village in Luxor Governorate, from May 20 to June 15, 2023.

The training included teaching women the basics and stages of the craft using patchwork, stencil printing, embroidery and beads, with the aim of enhancing their abilities and developing their skills to find job opportunities and consequently have a source of income to improve their living standards.

It is worth noting that the “Addressing the Economic Drivers of Irregular Migration” project aims to promote alternatives to irregular migration through promoting enterprise development and work opportunities for women and youth in Beheira, Gharbia, Luxor and Minya Governorates, in addition to implementing awareness-raising activities to highlight the risks of irregular migration based on the previous efforts.
